Internet speed recommendations
Here you find the recommendations for internet speed when streaming movies, TV shows and live sports on Viaplay.
- 3.0 megabits per second – recommended for SD quality
- 10.0 megabits per second – recommended for HD quality & sports
Content that we have available in HD is played in 720p if the internet connection is fast enough. If you are not sure what speed your internet has, we refer to speedtest.net where you can measure your current speed.
If the speed goes down at times, the quality is also adjusted, to avoid buffering. To avoid this, it is important to have a continuous download speed that corresponds to the recommendations above.
Note that the quality can only be adjusted on computers and mobile devices.
Set the streaming quality on your computer
Start the desired stream and then click on the four dots at the bottom right corner. Choose the quality you want. The higher the quality the more internet the streaming will consume.
Set the streaming quality on mobile or tablet
Open the Viaplay app on your mobile or tablet. If you don’t have an app, you can download it in the App Store or the Google Play Store.
Open settings in your profile or menu tab. There you will find the video settings and you can choose the streaming quality in advance. Lower quality uses less data. Read more here.
