Error message “The service is not available in your region”

Viaplay’s rights are limited by country. You can use the service in your home country as well as temporarily within the EU, in accordance with the EU portability rules. If you are outside the EU, this error message will therefore be shown.

If you are within the EU but still receive a message saying that the service is not available in your region, follow the steps below:

Check which country your IP address is registered in

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Check and copy your IP address on the following page: //www.minip.nu/.
  3. Visit https://www.maxmind.com/en/geoip-web-services-demo, paste your IP address, and select View results.
  4. Check the IP address location.
If the IP address shows the correct country

If you are in an EU country and the IP address shows the correct country:

  1. Turn off the VPN if a VPN service is enabled.
  2. Turn off any other services that may affect your connection, such as browser extensions.
  3. Reset the network settings to your internet provider’s default settings.
  4. Restart the device and try again.
If the IP address shows the wrong country

If the IP address is registered in the wrong country, follow the steps below:

  1. Contact your internet provider and ask them to check that your IP address is geographically registered correctly.
  2. If you are using a corporate network, school network, hotel network, or another public network, contact the network administrator or the staff on site.

Viaplay does not work via VPN or other services that change the location of your connection, as also stated in our general terms and conditions
