Change video quality in the Viaplay app
Data usage during playback varies depending on the video quality you choose. If you experience buffering or want to save data, you can manually adjust the video quality in the Viaplay app on your mobile or tablet.
Follow the steps below to change the video quality and reduce data usage, save storage space, or improve picture quality.
Change video quality for playback
- Open the Viaplay app on your mobile or tablet.
- Open Profile by selecting the profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select App settings.
- Select Video quality.
- Select your preferred quality level.
The change is saved automatically and applies to playback in the app.
Data usage per quality level
- HD – approx. 2.5 GB per hour
- High – approx. 1.8 GB per hour
- Medium – approx. 500 MB per hour
- Low – approx. 150 MB per hour
Select a lower quality level if playback is buffering or if you want to reduce data usage.
Change video quality for offline playback
- Open the Viaplay app on your mobile or tablet.
- Open Profile by selecting the profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select App settings.
- Select Video quality for offline.
- Select your preferred quality level.
The change is saved automatically and applies to playback of downloaded content in the app.
Storage per quality level
- Standard – Uses less storage space on your device.
- High – Uses more storage space but provides better picture quality.
