Downgrade your Viaplay package

Here you can find out how to downgrade your Viaplay package, when the change takes effect, and how your payment is affected. A downgrade is carried out in different ways depending on whether the subscription is managed directly by Viaplay, by Apple, or by a partner such as a TV provider.

  1. Go to Viaplay.com in a web browser.
  2. Log in to your Viaplay account.
  3. Open My account.
  4. Check which package you have under Package information.
  5. Follow the steps in the menus below to downgrade, depending on whether you are a direct customer, partner customer, or have a package via Apple.
Downgrade package on Viaplay
  1. Follow the steps above.
  2. Go to Package information.
  3. Select Manage package and then the package you want to downgrade to.
  4. Confirm the change.

What happens after the downgrade

  • You keep your current package until the next billing date.
  • At the next billing date, the lower price is charged and the new package becomes active.
Downgrade package via a partner

If the account information shows an external partner, you need to downgrade the package through the partner.

Downgrade package via Apple

To downgrade a Viaplay package via Apple, you first need to cancel your current package and then sign up for a new one. The new package can only be signed up for once the old package is no longer active.

Cancel on iPhone/iPad

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap your Apple ID account at the top.
  3. Select Subscriptions.
  4. Select Viaplay and cancel the subscription.

After you have cancelled your package, you can continue watching until your paid period expires. In the cancellation confirmation, you can see the date when your current package stops being active. Once the period has ended, you can sign up for the new package.

Get a new package on iPhone/iPad

  1. Open the Viaplay app from the App Store.
  2. Select Get Viaplay and choose the desired package.
  3. Fill in your details and tap Continue.
  4. Then confirm the purchase with your Apple account.

Once the purchase has been confirmed by Apple, you can start watching straight away.

Packages with a binding period

If your current package has a binding period, you cannot switch to another package until the binding period has ended.

Check the binding period under My account before making the change.

If you cancel a package with a binding period, the package remains active until the binding period ends and then ends automatically.

If no active package is shown under Package information

If the page does not show any active package but instead shows packages available for purchase, check that you are logged in to the correct account.
