Create and manage a Viaplay household

A Viaplay household is a group of devices that use the same internet connection at the location where you usually watch Viaplay. The household is created by signing in to Viaplay through a smart TV, Apple TV, or another compatible TV box, and your mobile devices are automatically included in the household by regularly opening the app while you are at home and connected to the same network as your TV.

Viaplay is intended for use within one single household. To provide all customers with a safe and fair experience, it is therefore not possible to share the account with people living at another address. It is neither permitted nor technically possible to use the same account across multiple households.

Create a Viaplay household

Create your household by signing in on a TV connected to your home network.

Requirements:

  • You have a Smart TV, Apple TV, or a compatible TV box.
  • You have access to the email address connected to your Viaplay account.

How to do it:

  1. Open the Viaplay app on your TV.
  2. Sign in with your Viaplay account.
  3. Confirm that the TV should be used as the household TV when prompted.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to confirm your email address.

Your Viaplay household has now been created.

Change household TV

Change your household TV if you move or want to use Viaplay in another location, for example in a holiday home.

Requirements:

  • You are the account owner.
  • You have access to the email address linked to the account

Do this:

  1. Open the Viaplay app on the new TV.
  2. Sign in with your account.
  3. Select to use the TV as the household TV when prompted.
  4. Open the verification email sent to your email address.
  5. Confirm the change via the link in the email.

The household will be moved to the new TV after confirmation.

Connect your mobile devices to your household

To ensure that Viaplay can be used on your mobile devices when you are outside your household, it is important to regularly verify these devices. Therefore, sign in to your account through the app on your mobile devices at least once every 30 days while connected to the same network as your TV.

If the device is not verified for your household

If you are outside your household and notice that your mobile device is not verified for your household, you can use a one-time code that allows you to watch Viaplay for up to 14 days outside your household.

Requirements:

  • You are the account owner.
  • You have access to the email address connected to the account.

How to do it:

  1. Select “Watch with temporary code” when signing in.
  2. Check your inbox for an email from Viaplay containing the one-time code.
  3. Return to the app and enter the code using capital letters.
If you don’t use a TV

You don’t need to create a Viaplay household if you don’t use a TV with your account.

You can still:

  • Use Viaplay on up to 5 devices within 24 hours.
  • Watch up to 2 streams at the same time.
Watch Viaplay on a TV outside your household

If you are not at home but want to watch Viaplay on a TV, this is still possible in one of the following ways:

  1. Cast to a TV from a mobile device connected to your household.
  2. Switch your Viaplay household to this TV according to the instructions above.

If none of the options above are possible and you need help, contact customer service.

Problems creating/changing a household

If you cannot create or change a household:

  • Check that you are using the correct email address for the account.
  • Check that you have access to your email for verification.
  • Try again from the beginning on the TV.
