Set Hertz on certain devices
To avoid choppy playback, we recommend setting all devices in your home to 50 Hz (please note that this cannot be changed manually on all devices).
If a device is set to another frequency, such as 60 Hz, the picture may appear choppy because the video stream needs to adapt to a different standard.
How to change the settings
Follow the instructions to set the hertz on your device.
PlayStation 4/5
- Go to settings
- Select video settings
- Select 50 Hz

- Select your device
- Click the three dots in the top right corner

What is Hz and why is it important?
Hertz (Hz) is used to describe how quickly electronic signals are refreshed. Different parts of the world use different standards: in Europe, the standard is 50 Hz, while North America uses 60 Hz.
This also affects the film and TV industry, where 50 and 60 frames per second (fps) are used respectively. On Viaplay, all content is adapted to the 50 Hz standard, which means 25 or 50 fps.
