Troubleshoot why your smart TV is not supported
As of 12 January 2026, support will end for certain smart TV models from Samsung, LG and Philips. This means that we do not officially support these devices, but the service may still work.
If your TV is affected, a message will appear in the Viaplay app when you open it on your TV, letting you know that the device is no longer supported.
Affected models
- LG and Samsung TVs from 2015
- Philips TVs from model years 2017–2019 and certain models from 2020
How can you continue watching?
Cast Viaplay to your TV
You can continue watching on your TV by casting content from the Viaplay app on your mobile device, tablet or computer to an external casting device, such as Chromecast, Apple TV or Google TV.

Play directly via Apple TV or Google TV
You can also use an external streaming device to continue watching Viaplay on your TV.
Here’s how:
- Connect Apple TV or Google TV to your TV.
- Download the Viaplay app from the App Store (Apple TV) or Google Play (Google TV).
- Sign in to your account and start watching.
Watch on another device
You can also continue watching Viaplay on other supported devices, such as a mobile phone, tablet or computer. Read more about other devices that support Viaplay here.
Why is support ending for these models?
This means that we do not officially support these devices, but the service may still work on them.
The affected models use an older application that is no longer maintained. This limits the ability to further develop and improve Viaplay as a service. In order to continue delivering a service that meets our performance requirements, the decision has been made to end support for these models.
